Vision Statement
eSoles vision is to become the world's premier brand name and technological leader in custom footbeds for consumers seeking superior athletic performance, lifestyle and medical benefits.
Brief History
eSoles custom footbeds were born with a sporting heritage that grew out of the passion of a world class athlete and the ingenuity of a certified pedorthist.
Glen Hinshaw an avid cyclist competing at the international level, had always noted early that the methods used for creating footbeds seemed to be more "art than science." Additionally, they were typically very expensive and required weeks, sometimes months to arrive. This changed in 2004 when Glen's path crossed with a certified pedorthist who happened to be an avid cyclist and skier himself - one who had a unique understanding of the flaws in the methods most commonly used in the industry for producing custom inserts. Personal research and testing led them to create a unique method for correct foot positioning analysis, combining support of the foot via an inflatable air-pillow with advanced 3 dimensional digital imaging. As a result, the footbeds created were - putting it simply - accurate and consistent, and Glen quickly realized two things: these were the best footbeds he had ever owned, and they had replaced "art" with science. After introducing David "Tiger" Williams to the market opportunity, negotiations were concluded and the 3 partners formed Foot Fitting, LLC at the end of 2004.
Foot Fitting spent the first half of 2005 developing the prototypes and then final versions of our 3D TruCapture® scanning units. The prototypes were used to produce limited sales and product was manufactured in a small facility in Rhode Island. The manufacturing facility was moved to Scottsdale, AZ in July, 2005.
At the end of 2005, the "eSoles" brand imaging plan was completed, and eSoles, LLC was formed to act as the public face and 'dba' for Foot Fitting. eSoles-branded marketing was launched at the start of 2006. Initially, direct sales of custom footbeds to consumers have been produced mostly through an employed sales agent force maintaining an eSoles presence at large scale tradeshows such as Interbike or sporting events such as the Boston Marathon. Today a majority of sales are made by independent dealers and big box retailers to whom eSoles provides the product on a wholesale basis. The independent dealers are primarily medical professionals.
In 2007 eSoles set out to develop a 3DTruCapture system for the retail market. For the next two years, the technology was developed by a team of technical partners unmatched in the industry. The self service kiosk, now in use in retailers throughout the world, not only features advanced foot scanning technology but social networking and robust data capture elements as value added features.
Developed alongside the kiosk was the eFit Custom Modular Footbed system which is the heart of eSoles' retail strength. The footbed features three key elements, which allow for modular customization to provide the correct fit directly at the retailer. Just as the kiosk was developed with input from key technical partners, the eFit product has seen development from the eSoles PRO database featuring Olympic & Tour de France Champions, professional golfers, world-class biomechanics specialists and everything in-between.
